 February 1910 the Duluth News Tribune and the Duluth and Superior's Commercial Clubs held a contest to rename the two cities to a shorter catchier phrase.  The winner would get a 10 dollar gold piece.  The name 'Twin Ports' was the winner submitted by Judge A.
