 Oneota was established in 1858 by the Merritt, Wheeler and Ely families. The area went from about 39th ave. W. to 47th ave. West. From the Bay to Oneota Cemetery. Became part of West Duluth in 1888 and Duluth in 1894. Picture is of the first public school which was built in Oneota.
