Miss Roy McGregor was Duluth's first police woman.  Hired in 1917 her duties included visiting the dance halls, chop suey houses and walking the town sidewalks to assure that there was no improper dancing, spooning in the booths  or improper language being used.  She served for ten months then resigned to join the British London police to help keep American troops away from 'undesirable' girls.  Zenith Web Site
